The EAR: Edinburgh Audience Review

About

Hugh Kerr was a university lecturer for 25 years and an MEP from 1994 to 1999. In the European Parliament he was a member of the Culture Committee. Along with Nana Mouskouri, he was responsible for European Music Policy.

Hugh was also President of the Friends of Music Intergroup and worked with musicians, composers and the recording industry to promote music in Europe.

Although untrained in music, he is a life-long enthusiast and has reviewed in the past for Opera magazine.

He has been attending the Edinburgh International Festival for over 40 years and has visited opera houses around the world.

He is now a freelance journalist covering culture and politics and is Vice-Chair of the Scottish National Union of Journalists.

He lives in Edinburgh with his partner.
